Agriculture refers to the production of food, fiber and other goods through farming and forestry. The study of agriculture is known as agricultural science. In 2007, about one third of the world's workers were employed in agriculture.
Career and Job opportunities
Agriculture is science-based, high-tech and offers an array of career possibilities - from animal and plant researchers, food scientists, nutritionists, agricultural journalists, bankers, market analysts, sales professionals, food processors, forest managers, wildlife specialists etc. In the area of research one can become an Agricultural Research Scientist (ARS). The second option is to become an Agriculture Development Officer (ADO). Thirdly you have the option to apply for the post of a Research Scientist of Organisation in private sector.
Forestry
Forestry is the art and science of managing forests, tree plantations, and related natural resources. Silviculture, a related science, involves the growing and tending of trees and forests. Forestry has emerged as a vital field of science, applied art, and technology.
Career and Job opportunities
Foresters may be employed by industry, government agencies, conversation groups, urban park boards, citizens associations, or private landowners. Industrial foresters are predominantly involved in planning the timber harvests and forest regeneration. Other foresters have the specific jobs which include a broad array of responsibilities.
